In the spirit of the holiday season, PhillyJobs.com has decided to carry-on its annual tradition of sponsoring a charity event to give back to the local Philadelphia community. In an effort to promote employee giving and teamwork, we decided to sponsor a field trip to the Please Touch Museum for 80 local kindergarten and first graders from the Penrose School. CEO Rich Milgram knew he wanted to keep this year’s charity focused on children and came up with the idea to partner with the Please Touch Museum to provide an interactive and fun-filled experience for a group of school-aged kids.
PhillyJobs.com assembled a group of volunteers to help identify participating children, plan the logistics and coordinate this exciting community event. The team began to think of various organizations in Philadelphia area that would appreciate an opportunity like this. Soon after, an employee relative who works as a teacher in Philadelphia community suggested her school for consideration.
Over the next few weeks, the PhillyJobs.com team worked together with the Penrose School and the Please Touch Museum to finalize all of the details. We decided to send 80 children, 16 chaperones and 11 employees to the museum on Friday, December 11, 2009. During the field trip, the children had the opportunity to enjoy the museum, gather together for lunch and ride the carousel before heading back to school. In preparation for the big day, there were several team building activities that encouraged employees from the entire company to help assemble goodie bags and nutritious lunch boxes for all of the children attending the field trip.
Any employee who works at PhillyJobs.com understands the importance and excitement that surrounds the annual holiday charity event, and this year was no exception! Our company takes great pride in giving back to our local community and we feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to bring happiness to the lives of 80 deserving children this holiday season!
Until next year…
